The Director of the Managed Accounts Portfolio Services Group (PSG) will be responsible for running the day-to-day discretionary investment management operations of Fidelity’s emerging businesses, including Wealth and Private Wealth. The PSG acts as a conduit between the Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers and other business areas including but not limited to trading, compliance, fund accounting and investment operations teams. This successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of Analysts and supporting the day to day needs of various investment professionals within Canada and working closely with leadership to develop new products and deliver industry best-in-class wealth solutions. They will also be responsible for producing client portfolio commentary, attribution and market insights and research.
A core objective of this role is to support daily investment and trading operations of the Wealth and Private Wealth teams. This includes reconciliation, account setup, portfolio assignments, KYC and suitability oversight, trade modeling and trade settlement. It also includes facilitating investor requests such as deposits, withdrawals, PACs/SWPs as it impacts account management.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver effective oversight and control of market related portfolio activities to mitigate risk and deliver superior investment results.
- Work dynamically with our relationship managers, and partners across the firm on trading, settlements, new accounts, reconciliations, security master, and related activities.
- Lead the PSG team to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met when dealing with client requests
- Ensure team accurately documents all interactions and trading activities to adhere to high standards
- Coordinate with Fidelity’s compliance, risk and legal departments on discretionary investment operations to ensure regulatory and legal obligations are met or exceeded for our clients.
- Lead best practices around FIC’s legal and regulatory obligations to support relationship managers around ‘KYP’ obligations
- Build an effective workforce by identifying, hiring and deploying the right talent to meet business needs.
- Coach, evaluate, develop and reward individuals to engage and retain high-performing talent.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal/external investment management business partners (i.e. Trading, operations, capital markets, relationship managers, dealer compliance) on matters as necessary, including assisting with resolution of issues.
- Solicit and listen to partner feedback to understand their objectives and key priorities.
- Build and maintain strong working relations with assigned investment staff and relationship managers.
What We’re Looking For
- 7 years of relevant work experience
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration within business administration, finance, economics or another related field or equivalent work experience
- Significant exposure to portfolio management, trading, compliance and/or investment operations for an asset manager or related entity
- Analytical/programming experience
- Advising Representative Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is a must have requirement
- CFA or CIM is a minimum requirement
- Previous experience in a similar investment operation and or portfolio services role is nice to have
- Experience as portfolio trader or similar investment operations and portfolio services role is an asset

- Extensive experience working with complex software applications in the financial services industry that support portfolio management, trading, and compliance e.g., DataPhile, Harmony, Bloomberg, etc.
- Solid understanding of product structures and investments covering multiple asset classes (equity, fixed income, alternative funds)
