The Admission Assistant is a key member of the Recruitment & Admissions team in the division of Student Services & International Relations at the Schulich School of Business. The incumbent performs the initial assessment of domestic and visa applications to Schulich’s Master programs offered at the Keele, Nadal, and Hyderabad campuses (Including but not limited to MBA, MBA/JD, MBA/MFA/MA, MMGT), and a selection of Graduate Diploma programs (GDFE & PDAM). This individual is responsible for authenticating and providing a preliminary assessment of the educational experience including GPA calculation and work history of applicants within the incumbent’s pipeline, as well as an initial assessment for advanced standing/waiver with replacement. The Admission Assistant ensures that applications are processed in an efficient and timely manner from the point of submission by the applicant via the Salesforce application portal, to the secondary stage of assessment performed by the Recruiter associated with the applicant’s file, and finally for marginal files on to the Admissions Committee for special review. The Admission Assistant codes all decisions within the Student Information System (SIS) and is also responsible for processing applicants’ financial deposits in SIS.
Secondary school graduation with minimum of one to two years of post-secondary education.
Two to three years recent related experience in an academic environment, preferably in a university Admissions Department setting. Experiences in cross referencing and verification of computer data including accurate on-line data entry, word processing, working with spreadsheets, email and other general office computer software.
Demonstrated skill/ability in the following areas: knowledge of post-secondary education systems. general advising skills. evaluating information to formulate and present an appropriate response: applying academic regulations to the assessment of credentials. accurate on-line data entry skills and knowledge of a large computerized record system (e.g. SIS). Typing 50 wpm., accuracy essential. word processing skills. excellent oral/written communication skills. exercising tact and diplomacy. proven ability to deal in a professional telephone manner. good organization skills. attending accurately to detail and working effectively under pressure of high volume. exercising good judgement and initiative. maintaining confidentiality. Proficient knowledge of MS Office: Advanced skills in Word. intermediate in Excel, MS Access, Email and the internet. Intermediate skills in Salesforce CRM.
