Position Description

The Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour (PNB) in the Faculty of Science at McMaster University invites applications for a one-year contractually limited appointment at the Assistant Professor level to commence July 1, 2021. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Psychology at the time of appointment with academic or professional experience in the following areas: social psychology, personality, forensic psychology, and positive psychology.

Applicants should have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level. The duties will involve teaching courses that may include Personality, Social Psychology, Forensic Psychology, and Positive Psychology among others. Specific course topics may include: theory assessment and research in approaches to personality and social psychology; criminal profiling, assessment of criminal responsibility, jury psychology and psychopathy; and exploring the physiology, psychological effects and adaptive value of positive emotional and cognitive responses to the outside world.

Administrative service and student mentorship in the Department are also expected in addition to participation in curriculum development in the PNB programs. There is no expectation that the candidate will develop an independent laboratory research program, but interest in pedagogical research and student supervision is encouraged.
