To provide administrative support to the departmental programs including coordination of various processes relating to program and degree requirements, student records, admissions, and enrolment services for students.
College Certificate in Office Administration or an equivalent of at least one (1) year’s recent experience (defined as within the last two years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks, in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Two years’ recent-related work experience (defined as within the last three years) in an academic environment including providing degree information to students, coordinating activities, familiarity with admissions and enrolment policies and procedures and supporting academic and administrative processes. Some knowledge of graduate program degree requirements and processes are required. Working knowledge of Academic Resource Management Systems (ARMS)/CUPE hiring or similar enterprise software.
Familiarity with web-based content management system such as Moodle.
Record keeping, planning and accuracy are essential components of the job.
Proficiency in document preparation including tables and mail merge in a Windows environment, intermediate computerized spreadsheet skills, MS Excel. basic to intermediate Microsoft Access.
Ability to conduct Internet searches. update web pages. maintain database and basic knowledge of html are required.
Proficiency with on-line student information system is essential.
Ability to work with data to compile reports. work accurately with figures.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and excel in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities that require utmost accuracy.
Ability to deal calmly, courteously and effectively with others.
Excellent interpersonal skills. effective oral communication skills to elicit and provide accurate information in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to initiate actions and work independently. excellent problem-solving skills with good judgment.
Good written communication and minute-taking skills.
Basic editing skills using Contribute, WordPress or similar web interface software.
