Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Executive Assistant, the Councillor’s Assistant II will provide a comprehensive range of services in support of the Councillor and the Councillor’s office.

Description of Responsibilities:
The Councillor’s Assistant II is responsible to the Councillor’s Assistant V, VI or VII for providing administrative assistance as required by the Elected Official.

Responsibilities may include maintaining existing filing systems, preparing documents for distribution, photocopying, sorting mail, assisting with data collection, updating and maintaining spreadsheet, liaising with other community stakeholders, processing routine correspondence, and completing other administrative duties.

The Councillor’s Assistant II may be asked to assist with community events, communications, constituency case work, and other tasks as assigned by the Councillor or supervising staff member.

Education & Experience

Post Secondary School Diploma

A minimum of 6-months experience in providing administrative services is required.

Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.

Language, Certificates & Licenses

English oral, reading, writing required

A valid Ontario unrestricted “G” class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated.

Knowledge

General knowledge of City administrative structure and services

Knowledge of Microsoft Office
