Role description
- Supervise the volunteers on our hotline and in one-on-one peer support service;
- Coordinate and assign hotline shifts, and cover shifts that are not filled by peer support volunteers by answering hotline calls and providing support to survivors;
- Support volunteers in their own experiences;
- Recruit, interview, and train new volunteers;
- Provide ongoing training and workshops for volunteers;
- Update and enhance our volunteer training manual, protocols, and volunteer support materials;
- Coordinate with outside organizations and speakers to provide ongoing learning opportunities for volunteers;
- Update the resource list used by volunteers for referrals to conjugal violence-related programs and services;
- Organize Peer Support Volunteer Meetings on a minimum of a monthly basis;
- Regularly check-in with volunteers to ensure their development within the organization and their satisfaction with the support provided;
- Implement volunteer recognition strategies to value and retain volunteers;
- Participate in Board Committee meetings when appropriate;
- Ensure that service stats are logged by the volunteers; and
- Ensure volunteer timesheets are completed and attend to other volunteers-related administrative tasks.
You are:
- A survivor of conjugal or intimate partner violence;
- A woman (cis or trans), non binary, or gender non-conforming person;
- Organized and efficient;
- Equipped with excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude;
- Able to take initiative, and also to take direction from the Executive Director and the Board of Directors;
- Capable of prioritizing and carrying out multiple tasks;
- Able to work with little supervision;
- An empathetic and active nonjudgmental listener; and
- Committed to the organization’s values: feminism, empowerment, anti-oppression and harm reduction in intervention approach and politics. *
REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated experience working in a non-profit organization in a coordinating role, preferably with volunteers;
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English and French;
- Comfort using Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Zoom;
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with volunteers; and
- *A post-secondary degree, preferably in a related field.
