Position Summary
The Admitting Clerk performs a variety of reception and clerical duties required for the efficient operation of the unit. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: data entry (in-patient and outpatient registration, admission, discharge, transfer and pre-registrations); required transport functions, in accordance with unit and Health Centre policies; ordering and maintaining supplies; specific auditing functions; Point Pleasant Lodge reservations; arranging for shift coverage.
Hours of Work
Department is operational 24/7; includes days, evenings, nights and weekends, 4 & 7 hour shifts. Regularly scheduled hours (subject to change to accommodate operational requirements) are:
Week 1: Friday and Saturday 1500-2300.
Week 2: Tuesday and Thursday 0600-1400, Wednesday and Friday 0630-1430.
Qualifications
Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
Completion of a recognized office administration program an asset.
Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
Emergency experience preferred.
Demonstrated accurate keyboarding and data entry skills required. Testing will be conducted on short-listed candidates and results will be factored into the candidate’s overall suitability for this position.
Demonstrated organizational, analytical, time management, interpersonal and communication skills required.
Flexibility to work additional shifts preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology an asset.
Competency in other languages an asset, French preferred.
