Purpose:
To contribute to the effective functioning of the department by providing administrative support to the Department Chair and the undergraduate program in all aspects under the jurisdiction of that office including co-ordination of academic administrative processes, budget administration, committee support and general administrative support for the Department Chair.
Education:
Community College diploma in related field (such as Office Administration), or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Experience:
Two years current administrative and financial support experience in a fast-paced environment. Experience must include calendar management, administrative support to senior level staff, coordinating administrative processes and monitoring and reconciling budgets. Candidates must also have current experience providing front line services to students.
Skills:
Demonstrated skill/ability in the following areas: Advanced skills in Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Experience with student information system (SIS) would be an asset. Ability to work effectively under pressure of high volume. Setting priorities and multi-tasking. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to deal calmly, courteously and effectively with people. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to explain detailed information in a clear and concise manner. Experience monitoring and reconciling budgets and other general financial duties. Demonstrated ability to work independently and show initiative. Problem solving skills and good judgment. Excellent written communications skills. Knowledge of CUPE Hiring system and ProWatch will be an asset.

This position requires the candidate to produce a verification of degree(s), credentials(s), or equivalencies from accredited institutions and/or international equivalents at the time of interview.
Hours of work: 8:30am-4:30pm. Requests to work overtime may occur periodically through the year. Peak periods for this position: Beginning and ending of terms. September, October, early January, March. Vacation restriction: Beginning and ending of terms. September, October, early January, March.
