NLC’s Health Care Assistant Program requires a temporary, part-time instructor to provide instruction for HCAT 110 Healing 1: Caring for Individuals Experiencing Common Health Challenges, a course that introduces students to the normal structure and function of the human body and normal bodily changes associated with aging.
Qualifications:
Required:
Completion of an accredited Diploma in Practical Nursing, or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Current, full practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as an LPN or RN.
Minimum of two years (full-time equivalent) of recent Canadian Nursing experience with relevant knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system, the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members, and current policies and procedures within residential and community care settings. Nursing experience should include (a) working with older adults with complex health needs; and (b) experience or orientation in home support and multi-level complex care.).
Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners: e.g., completion of (or satisfactory progress in) the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program; or previous teaching experience with satisfactory evaluations; or, where PIDP or teaching evaluations are absent, teaching ability must be demonstrated during the interview process.
Familiar with online delivery platforms (e.g. D2L, MS Teams, Zoom).
Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
Committed to student motivation and achievement; and
Ability to contribute as a team member.
