The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education encompasses the three counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby serving 5757 students in twenty-two (22) schools, composed of 13 Elementary Schools, 6 High Schools, 1 Middle School, and 2 Elementary/High Schools.

Assignment: Severe Learning Disabilities Teacher (SLD) serving all TCRCE Schools.

Roles: The Severe Learning Disabilities Teacher (SLD) is responsible for providing appropriate supportive educational services to students with diagnosed learning disabilities. As a member of the Student Services team they are committed to supporting students, families and school based staff in the areas of interpretation of assessments results, appropriate academic programming, self-advocacy skills and transitioning requirements.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:
Master of Education with a special education concentration.

Qualified Level B Assessor.

Professional Development training in the area of Learning Disabilities.

Experience administering and interpreting Level B Assessments.

Experience as a Resource Teacher.

Experience providing professional development to small and large groups.

Experience providing support to school staff in the form of contributions to program plans and classroom implementation of strategies.

Experience utilizing and recommending assistive technology for student use.

Proven ability to communicate and work alongside diverse cultural and racial backgrounds.

Demonstrated ability to value the voice and contribution of others while remaining open to corrective criticism.

Completion of WHMIS and First Aid, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
