Job Duties
The School of Health Sciences at RDC is currently inviting applications for full-time sessional Instructor(s) in the Kinesiology & Sport Studies program, commencing August 12, 2021.
The Kinesiology and Sport Studies (KNSS) program at RDC prides itself on providing high quality, experiential, and learner centered experiences for students. Students can complete a two year diploma and then enter the work force, or transfer to a university and complete a Bachelor’s degree.
The KNSS program provides exceptional opportunities to work closely with students, faculty and staff in an innovative, supportive environment that promotes creativity, scholarship and commitment to student success. RDC offers an excellent professional development program that helps faculty to continuously develop skills, knowledge and expertise specific to teaching and learning as well as their respective discipline.
Responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):
Teaching students in classroom, activity and/or lab settings with flexibility for both face to face and online course delivery.
Creating a stimulating, effective, and learner-centered environment.
Preparing, reviewing and/or updating course material.
Marking, grading, and evaluation of student work.
Providing ongoing feedback, guidance, and assistance to students.
Actively contributing and participating in program planning, curriculum development & review, project work, and scholarly activity.
Participating in School and College-wide initiatives and/or committees.
Upholding the Professional Responsibilities of Faculty at RDC which are described within the Faculty Performance Policy.
Demonstrating and promoting RDC organizational values and following RDC policies and practices.

Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Kinesiology or related discipline
Recent practical experience
Excellent communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
Passion for teaching, ability to inspire students, and commitment to student learning and success
Ability to work effectively in a variety of team environments
Proven commitment to continuous learning and reflective practice

Preferred Qualifications
Relevant PhD or PhD in progress preferred
Experience teaching in a post-secondary environment

There is a tuition waiver for RDC credit courses for you as well as your immediate family members, as well as opportunities for professional development funding. The Local Authorities Pension Plan is also offered as an option to those who have served a waiting period. There is paid time off due to College closures between Christmas and New Year general holidays. This position also offers an additional 8% of the regular salary in lieu of vacation.
