Assistant professor in pediatric dentistry
Department of Santé buccale, Faculty of Dental Medicine
The Department of Santé buccale of the Université de Montréal is searching for a full -time assistant
professor in pediatric dentistry with a strong interest (or background) in research.
As a professor, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the excellence of the Faculty of
Dental Medicine…
…through your teaching and your research activities. You will also ensure the visibility of your discipline
as well as actively participate in the operation of a renowned institution. As such, you will responsible for:
Didactic, pre-clinical and clinical teaching in the postgraduate pediatric dentistry program mainly
at Ste-Justine Children’s Hospital (CHU Ste-Justine) and possibly as well in the undergraduate
dental school;
Participating in research in pediatric dentistry and its related fields;
Directing research projects of students enrolled in the graduate pediatric dentistry program;
Contributing to research in the field of pediatric dentistry;
Contributing to the functioning of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and to the overall excellence of
the Université de Montréal;
Enhancing the University’s reputation by sharing your scholarly work with the scientific community
and with society at large.
The requirements to succeed in this role are:
Holder of a Masters (M.Sc.) in pediatric dentistry or having equivalent training, or in the process
of obtaining a Masters (M.Sc.) in pediatric dentistry or equivalent training; having a PhD will be
considered an asset. It is important to note that should the Masters not be obtained prior to the
starting date of employment, the applicant will assume the position of Lecturer instead of
Assistant Professor for a maximum period of up to one year
Holder of, or able to obtain, a permit to practice dentistry from the Order of Dentists of Quebec;
Holder of, or eligible to obtain certification in pediatric dentistry from the Royal College of
Surgeon Dentists of Canada or the National Dental Examining Board of Canada or equivalent
body;
Having an interest in multidisciplinary and complex pediatric dentistry treatment (cleft lip and
palate, cranio-facial deformities and other pathological syndromes);with this in mind, professional
collaboration with CHU Ste-Justine is strongly encouraged;
Having a good knowledge of teaching and motivational techniques;
Collaborations with recognized teams in clinical and/or basic research projects are actively
encouraged;
An adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language or a strong commitment to
mastering the proficiency level required, in accordance to Université de Montréal’s Language
Policy. An institutional learning support program is offered to all professors wishing to learn
French or improve their communication skills.
