About the PDF Position: We are seeking a motivated scholar with a research background in Indigenous health, maternal/reproductive health, social work, or health economics to join our multidisciplinary team. We seek candidates with a PhD in health economics, health policy or health services research, and expertise in quantitative, qualitative and/or Indigenous methodologies. Knowledge or experience in Social Return on Investment (SROI) or related health economic analyses would be preferred, but is not required. The PDF will be co-supervised by Dr. Erika Penz, SROI Lead (College of Medicine), and a ‘Hope through Strength’ project PI or co-I. Given the diversity of our team, this PDF position can be located within the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Medicine, School of Public Health, College of Nursing, or Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy.

About the Project: The Sanctum 1.5 ‘Hope through Strength’ Project is a community-university research partnership aimed at providing high quality, contextualized evidence to demonstrate the efficacy of Sanctum 1.5’s model of care, inform further development of Sanctum 1.5, and examine the potential for scale and spread.

The project involves three concurrent and iterative phases: Phase 1 – quantitative chart review; Phase 2 – qualitative inquiry into Sanctum 1.5’s wrap-around model of care; and Phase 3 – scale and spread. The SROI investigation will draw from data and information gathered in all three Phases and inform subsequent research towards developing an evidence base for Sanctum 1.5’s model of care.

The role of the successful Postdoctoral candidate will be to work with the team and Sanctum 1.5 to develop a comprehensive framework for SROI including inputs, outcomes and impacts in areas including maternal and child health and wellness, social services including child apprehension and welfare, Justice/legal system, and other relevant sectors/areas of impact. The Postdoctoral Fellow will then, in collaboration with the team, identify priority area(s) for initial input and outcome cost models, and will execute one or more targeted SROI analyses covering specific parts of the overarching SROI framework. Involvement in other study phases and activities will be strongly encouraged as time and workload allow. In conjunction with established approaches to SROI analyses, the position will also involve incorporating a Two-eyed Seeing approach, working within an Ethical Space to ensure Indigenous and western perspectives and values are incorporated into the framework, analyses and outputs.
