The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon. Description

The Forklift Operator / Warehouse Worker will be responsible for standard warehouse duties of receiving, sorting, put-away, picking and shipping of primarily food products for a great cause. Regular power equipment (forklift, power cart) use is required as well as a significant amount of manual work and use of computer systems to help supply donated goods to member agencies who help the needy in our communities.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Warehouse:

  • Operate various types of forklifts to move and store goods in warehouse according to warehouse layout plan
  • Perform shipping and receiving of goods
  • Inspect goods received for quality / damage / expiry (use-by) dates; document, rotate, and store stock appropriately to ensure maximum yield is achieved
  • Build skids of fresh, frozen and / or dry goods for delivery
  • Sort and re-package food or toys
  • Accurately count and weigh product being delivered or shipped
  • Assist with inventory reconciliation
  • Use Warehouse Management System / Inventory Management System to record / facilitate warehouse operations
  • Perform general cleaning and maintenance tasks of warehouse, yard and equipment as required

Driving:

  • Occasional delivery and / or pickup of goods in various vehicles up to and including a 3-ton truck
  • Operate, inspect, and maintain vehicle and related documentation in compliance with CVOR requirements
  • Document / report any vehicle incidents or damage in a timely manner

General:

  • Promote the Mission, Policies and Objectives of the Railside Services Ministry in the Ontario Central East Division
  • Prepare, complete and submit documentation in a timely manner as required
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Adhere to the Salvation Army Policy & Procedure Manual, Railside Policy & Procedure Manual and Railside Health & Safety Guidelines
  • Ensure all comments regarding goods and / or services from Ministry Units, suppliers or other contacts are communicated to Railside management in a timely manner
  • Wear the appropriate safety / Personal Protective Equipment and maintain a clean uniform
  • Ensure all work is completed in a safe manner, in accordance with TSA, WSIB, CVOR, and all other regulatory requirements
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:  

  • Completion of High School
  • Current Forklift Operators Certificate

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements  

  • More than 1 year but less than 2 years of related experience
  • Acceptable criminal record check
  • Valid class G drivers’ license and an acceptable drivers’ abstract

 

Skills and Capabilities:  

  • Proven attention to detail and the ability to follow legislation, directions, policies, procedures and well-defined steps
  • Ability to personally and safely lift up to 39 pounds
  • Reliable, self-motivated and confidential
  • Ability to work in a team setting as well as independently

Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:

  • Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring, as well as updated annually
