Course number and title: PPG2013H-F: Public Policy and Technology
Course description: This course surveys major issues at the intersection of public policy and technology, such as: regulatory entrepreneurship, regulatory sandboxes, platform capitalism, surveillance capitalism, smart cities, fintech, artificial intelligence, health tech, disinformation, the gig economy, and new taxation proposals. The course constantly considers the optimal regulatory environment for new digital technologies.

Class schedule: Mondays 7-9pm
- This course is scheduled to be delivered online. Please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, this course may be delivered in person, remotely/online, or by a combination of delivery methods as determined by the Faculty of Department at a later date.
Sessional dates of appointment: May 1, 2021 – June 30, 2021
Salary: Sessional Lecturer I – $8,489.67; Sessional Lecturer I, Long Term – $8,869.25; Sessional Lecturer II – $9,085.58; Sessional Lecturer III – $9,301.90
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Qualifications: MA in political science or public policy required, with specialization in digital governance. Extensive and senior professional policy practitioner experience required. Teaching experience at the graduate level required.
Description of duties: Teaching at the graduate level, developing the syllabus, teaching two-hour classes, providing weekly office hours for academic counseling of students, preparing and delivering course material, preparing and delivering assignments and tests, marking student work and submitting grades.
