Description
This Marketing Assistant is a summer intern position in conjunction with the Canada Summer Jobs program. The purpose of the marketing assistant is to review, analyze, develop and implement marketing strategies for the International Development which will promote the work of the International Development Department and its many programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the resource media coordinator in providing strategic and operational support to marketing and media initiatives for the International Development Department
- Liaise with various faith-based organizations to promote the international work of The Salvation Army
- Assist in developing promotional material for 3 significant campaigns (Partners in Mission; Gifts of Hope Brighter Futures Children’s Sponsorship) and any future campaigns that the International Development Office undertakes.
- Support the International Development Department with innovative presentations and ideas to engage individuals and the public in the ministry of International Development.
- Provide technical support for the International Development Office
- Provide administrative assistance as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements under the Canada Summer Jobs Program:
- Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred
- Is legally entitled to work according to the provincial / territorial legislations and regulations
Education and Experience
- Completing/Completed a University/College diploma in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Presentation of Portfolio preferable
- Minimum 3 – 6 months of experience working in marketing (digital marketing) or advertising
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Creative and attentive to detail
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, in-Design and Acrobat, Microsoft Office
- Solid Interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Understanding and support of the mission of The Salvation Army in an international context
