Job Description:
Reporting to the Chair, Learning and Teaching Services, the Academic Manager manages projects and processes related to faculty support for the Learning and Teaching Services unit, oversees Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) and Pathways, and supports academic areas in the development and delivery of quality work-integrated learning (WIL) experiences.

The incumbent manages a team of employees and services consisting of Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR), articulation agreements, credit transfer and pathways advising, work-integrated learning, educational technology, and special projects as they arise. In addition, the incumbent has oversight over the department’s budgets as well as project budgets and expenditures. The incumbent manages projects and associated staff through the creation and management of project plans, schedules and budgets.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Masters degree preferably with a specialization in Education.

Professional designation in project management would be an asset;

Seven (7) years project-related experience in a post-secondary education environment;

Five (5) years experience working with external stakeholders;

Two (2) years experience managing diverse teams and work assignments within a unionized work environment;

Experience in the design and management of complex projects with minimal direction and supervision;

Experience with operational and project budgets and expenditures, as well as externally-funded project budgets;

Experience managing projects and associated staff by creating and managing project plans, schedules, and reporting in a postsecondary environment;

Experience classifying and supporting the development of work-integrated learning experiences within courses and programs.

Extensive knowledge of services offering recognition for prior learning such as Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) and credit transfer;

Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills;

Superior organizational, planning, and financial management skills;

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;

Demonstrated commitment to student success, teaching excellence, quality education, and continuous improvement.
