Assistant Director of Student Services–Vancouver

The Assistant Director of Student Services works with all areas of the Vancouver Campus to develop and deliver programs, services and activities that promote student wellness and a sense of community within the university; assists students in their adjustment to university life at FDU-Vancouver; and provides opportunities for student personal growth and development. The incumbent will be the contact person for student immigration issues or concerns. The incumbent must have and maintain in good standing the Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) or the Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) RCIC designation with the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC). Additional responsibilities include planning and coordinating new student orientation programs, cultural and social programs, and co-curricular student activities and assuring adherence to immigration regulations. The Assistant Director of Student Services reports to the Director of Student Services.

Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required; Master’s degree in Administrative Science, Higher Education Administration or related field preferred.

2. Must have and maintain in good standing the Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) or the Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) RCIC designation with the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC).

3. A minimum of 1 year of experience in Student Affairs and/or International Student Services with increasing levels of responsibility.

4. Strong oral and written communications and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, staff and faculty.

5. Proficiency in the use of computerized systems for word processing, data management and other applications. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite preferred.

6. Experience in the planning and implementation of events.

7. Outstanding organizational skills.

8. Knowledge of the Canadian immigration system is preferred.

9. Valid passport for international travel.

10. Must be willing and able to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends.

11. Canadian residency or work permit required.

12. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check.
