POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
Assists in developing, planning and implementing a summer program for children ages 6-11
HOURS: This is a temporary full-time position from mid-June until late-August, Monday through Friday for 35 hours a week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the daily planning of schedules and programs for the camping program; plans and implements day-trips for campers; assists with camper registration process
- Ensure the health, safety, emotional wellness and personal development of campers
- Work closely alongside Corps Officers to develop camp schedule/activities
- Assists with staff training and coaching
- Guide the spiritual growth of campers through love, understanding, patience and example
- Maintain and enforce the rules and regulation of camping program at all times
- Complete thorough incident and accident reports; promptly gather and submit incident reports to Camp Director
- Maintain records (attendance, allergies etc.) and manage confidential information
- Assist with advertising and promotion of the camp program
- Engages with community partners/members, congregation members and neighbouring families
- Design and implement recreational activities
- Assist with camp clean-up at the end of each week as well as daily COVID-19 cleaning
- Attend applicable trainings, staff meetings and weekly de-brief sessions
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with children, families and co-workers
- Able to manage time and work independently with minimal supervision
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- At least one year of post-secondary education (an alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable) and be between the ages of 15-30
Full License and Clean Drivers Abstract
- First Aid/CPR Certificate
- Must have a clear and current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
Experience:
- Prior experience working with children and activity planning will be an asset
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- A clean drivers abstract
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
