Assistant Professor, Two Year Term, Department of Geography & Environment, Faculty of Science

The Faculty of Science invites applications for a two-year term position in Human/Cultural Geography in the Department of Geography and Environment.

The Department welcomes applications from candidates with teaching and research expertise in one or more of the following specialties: Indigenous geography and/or post-colonial geographies, cultural geography, geographies of food, migration and identity, or other areas that complement existing strengths in the department.

The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering a suite of undergraduate courses that may include introductory human geography, cultural geography, regional geography of Canada, rural and small town Canada, population and development, urban geography, qualitative research methods, and/or a course in their area of expertise.

The successful applicant may also have the opportunity to supervise Master’s students in Science (Environmental and Life Sciences) or Arts (Rural Development). The normal mode of course delivery is in-person; however, given the uncertainties inherent in the current pandemic, applicants should be prepared to teach in an online synchronous format.

Qualifications: A PhD at the time of application or shortly thereafter is preferred

Start date: July 1, 2021 or by mutual agreement

Rank and Salary: Commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience
