Manages assigned staff; hires, assigns work schedules, assesses staffing needs, identifies and pursues other resources if necessary. Plans and approves staff development. Conducts performance management and, when required, disciplinary action.
Provides security leadership to all levels of the organization as the organization subject matter expert on Corporate Security.
Manages the activities of the Corporate Security Section and ensures its alignment with corporate values, business objectives, guiding principles and management commitments.
Provides strategic consultation to senior management and the leadership team regarding the design, coordination and maintenance of corporate security programs and policies.
Prepares written and oral corporate security reports as well as reports in response to enquiries from the Director, City Council, Committees of Council, senior administration and the public.
Ensures a high level of security business services is provided to internal customers.
Researches, develops and implements security best practices in partnership with other Departments and Divisions.
Integrates security expertise to assess risks, evaluate threats and build internal capacity within the organization.
Develops communication procedures, aligned with Emergency Management, with police of jurisdiction, Provincial and Federal authorities, the general public, contractors and other civic departments on matters of corporate security.
Participates in crime reduction committees while developing and monitoring crime prevention initiatives.
Provides and facilitates training regarding Corporate Security policies, practices and procedures.
Collaborates and acts as a team building agent working to develop, implement, maintain and monitor corporate initiatives.
Ensures projects related to corporate security are delivered within established timeframes and budget.
Administers the annual capital and operating budgets.
Assists in the development of annual business plans.
Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees and the general public in accordance with all relevant Acts and Legislation.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Degree in Security Management or related field.
Seven to nine years of progressively responsible experience in corporate security and/or law enforcement.
An equivalent combination of education and experience in the security management/law enforcement field may be considered.
Possession of a professional Security designation such as ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP, Physical Security Professional (PSP), Professional Certified Investigator, Associate Protection Professional (APP)is preferred.

Ability to provide subject matter expertise, maintain knowledge of security trends, relevant security/law enforcement/privacy related legislation, relevant codes, regulations, industry guidelines, risk management techniques, local government, legislated authorities, and unionized environments.

Salary:
$90,114.00 to $105,883.92 per annum (2019 rates)
