You will provide corporate policy and strategy leadership, advice, analysis and recommendations to senior management in the Ministry and other Ontario Public Service ministries.
What can I expect to do in this role?
The Education and Centre of Excellence unit is responsible for heightening organizational awareness, preparedness and providing knowledge, education and support for addressing high cyber risk areas for OPS staff and the broader public sector (BPS).
You will support the team by leading and directing the design, development, and delivery of an enterprise-wide Cyber security awareness and education program and the Cyber Security Centre of Excellence (CoE) for the broader public sector. You will also oversee and lead the development and implementation of marketing strategies, tools and resources to promote and communicate security systems, services and processes to partners and stakeholders to ensure enhanced security awareness. You will have a unique opportunity to contribute in delivery of cyber security government priorities that have a high impact on lives of the people of Ontario.”

- You have strong strategic project planning and management techniques, and research and analysis techniques;

- You have leadership skills to provide technical guidance and expertise to project team members.
Technical Expert Skills:
- You have experience planning and leading policy and strategy research, analysis and development projects;
- You can identify emerging issues and determine research required to understand and develop creative solutions;
- You have experience in IT security, and knowledge of related best practices, trends and methodologies related to the role you are applying for;
- You have demonstrated experience managing complex I&IT projects and achieving successful results with high customer satisfaction;
- You have experience developing and updating large scale Cyber Security processes, systems and solutions related to the role;
- You have knowledge of the principles, best practices, trends and issues related to IT project management.
Communication, Consultation and Relationship Management Skills:
- You have strong oral, consultation and negotiation skills to lead and participate effectively in meetings and consultations among colleagues and stakeholders at all levels within the organization;
- You are comfortable presenting and recommending policy & strategy initiatives and proposals to senior management in order to influence decision-making and gain approval;
- You demonstrate consensus-building and negotiation skills to build and maintain strong relationships with multiple stakeholders and clients;
- You have excellent written communication skills to develop and present project plans, in-depth analyses, reports, and other materials for diverse audiences;
- You have superior written and oral communication skills and experience presenting complex technical information and making recommendations to senior management and stakeholders;
- You can build, maintain and enhance collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and business partners;
- You can effectively manage expectations and anticipate and resolve major obstacles and conflicts.
- You can convey and advocate to senior staff the analysis and implications of security issues and propose responses on contentious I&IT issues.
Analytical and problem solving skills:
- You can conceptualize, interpret, and evaluate approaches to solving complex Cyber Security issues;
- You conduct research and recommend innovative approaches to Cyber Security issues;
- You can support the development of IT security processes, systems and solutions to meet complex and multi-year plans;
- You are able to rapidly evaluate and assess potentially imminent security situations, sensitive developments and complex threat issues.
