Job Summary
Athletics and Recreation takes a holistic approach to enhancing the Dalhousie experience by creating and sharing ways to engage and connect students through physical activity and wellness, to contribute to student success. Reporting to the Associate Director, Athletic Services, the Evening Supervisor will share responsibility for the operation and delivery of exceptional front-line and retail services provided to Langille Athletic Centre (LAC) members, students, guests, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate a positive customer relations strategy through professional delivery of membership sales, program registration and overall information dissemination for all inquiries. Address guest issues and concerns. Compile information packages. Update and monitor LAC social media sites.
- Complete data and fee collection, including handling cash, for all Athletics & Recreation programs and services. Assist in maintaining the inventory of sales and service items such as locks, sport equipment and varsity uniforms.
- Provide supervision and support for varsity events and recreational programming. Supervise and direct event staff. Ensure game officials are provided with necessary event supplies and service.
- Supervise and train casual student client experience staff. As required, assist with student payroll, scheduling, and hiring.
- Complete travel arrangements for the varsity athletic teams (e.g. accommodations, transportation) in coordination with coaches.
Note
The work schedule for this position will be Sunday-Thursday, and hours of work may fall between 1 pm-10 pm depending on operational requirements and in accordance with the collective agreement.
Qualifications
Business/Office Administration diploma plus approximately three years’ relevant experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Must have previous experience in a customer service environment as well as prior supervisory experience. Assets include experience working within sport/recreational facilities and/or a university environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Must have strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to multi-task effectively in a busy environment. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment is required. This position does require regular lifting and moving of facility equipment (e.g. nets, free weights) up to approximately 30lbs and providing set up assistance for games and events. Current Emergency First Aid certification or completion of certification within the first month of employment is required.
