Overview

FLOGEN Technologies Inc. is a high-tech research organization dedicated to developing sustainable technologies using scientific, technological, and engineering research. Each year, we also sponsor an international conference (Sustainable Industrial Processing Summit) that covers three sustainability pillars: (1) Science, Technology & Industry, (2) Governance & Management and (3) Education & Civil Society. The summit simultaneously incorporates numerous International Symposia covering the fields of: iron and steel making; electrochemistry; molten salt and ionic liquids; advanced materials; advanced manufacturing; advanced technologies; aluminum; batteries; bio-extraction; cement; coal; coatings; composites; ceramics; ecosystems; education; energy production; environment; ferro-alloys; mathematics; metallic systems; metals and alloys; minerals; mining; multiscale materials; nanomaterials; non-ferrous smelting and hydro/electrochemical processing; quasi-crystals; rare earth and platinum group metals; recycling; and rotary kiln operations. The topics within each symposia span across scientific, technological, environmental, health, legal, management, financial, policy, taxation, social, and pedagogy issues.

This year’s edition, SIPS 2021 (https://www.flogen.org/sips2021/), will take place in Phuket. Thailand, during November 28 to December 2, 2021. There are several paid summer positions open for a student or non-student aged below 30 interested in assisting in research for the above-mentioned goals.

This is a Canada summer job program and the eligibility criteria for this job as determined by Government of Canada are:

  • is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  • is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and
  • is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

*International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

FLOGEN Technologies Inc. preferred qualifications:

  • Excellent English, written and spoken
  • A strong interest for working in a non-profit environment, for subjects related to STEM and sustainability, and for event management and coordination
  • Familiarity with journal platforms, academic publishing tools, and/or SEO an asset
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent teamwork skills, and be highly organized and detail oriented
