Position Overview
The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Engineering Traffic Technician. Under the general direction of the Assistant Manager, Transportation, the Engineering Traffic Technician is responsible for conducting field investigations, gathering data, reviewing transportation-related permits, and providing support to other staff within the department. This position is technical in nature and involves all aspects of street and traffic planning, operations, and management. This is an entry-level position with opportunity for growth.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Diploma in Traffic Engineering or a related field, along with a minimum of 6 months’ related experience in a municipal engineering environment with direct experience in field data collection, front-line customer service, and technical reviews and reporting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The incumbent must have membership in, or eligibility for membership in applicable professional designation. A Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence is required.
Additional Information
This is a unionized position. $36.28 per hour – after Probation (Jan 2021 Rate), based on a 35 hour work week. The wage level for this position is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan. A comprehensive benefit package is included.
