We are looking for an Assistant Vice President, Group Policy and Complex Claims Support as part of our Group Customer Member Health & Ability organization.
What you will do
Fully accountable for the operational and business results for the teams that support the following functions: Out of Country claims; life claims; litigation; clinical consulting for the claims organization (physicians, dentists, physiotherapists), third party payers as well as appeals, complaints, and escalated complex disability, medical, dental and drug claims
Responsible for policy & best practice development that has the potential to impact results, reputation, expenses, revenue and/or employee engagement
Provide expertise around how Canada Life can differentiate in the marketplace by delivering better value to customers through claims adjudication and management
Develop thought leadership with regards to industry positions on policies. Gather information on trending from industry updates, healthcare related developments/ research, and plan sponsor feedback to identify policy and best practice opportunities
Oversee policy development for life, medical, dental, disability, out of country and drug claims adjudication.
Identify and create life claims and drug claims best practices in addition policy development
Support Group Customers ability to grow revenue through securing new business and retaining existing business: have oversight over the teams providing innovative responses to Requests for Proposals and managing requests from Plan Sponsors and consulting houses for life and disability service level agreements
Engage with CLHIA and other business leaders as required (within Group Customer) to create new policies and procedures that align to industry leading practices
Actively participating in the development of short and long-term business plans and successfully manages the completion of projects associated with corporate, divisional and department priorities
Demonstrate leadership

Maximize employee engagement, performance and development
Improve the value proposition of teams to drive efficiency and better serve needs of stakeholders
Support all Group People Strategies to ensure high engagement of staff

What you will bring
Undergraduate degree
Understanding of life, disability, health, medical, drug and out of country products, polices, claims adjudication practices and litigation
Understanding of the financial side of the business
Is aware of the trends, legislation and regulations related to the insurance industry and customer needs and identifies business opportunities that create competitive advantage
Results and goal oriented for success; ability to create strategies and initiatives to drive the organization forward
Strong business acumen, with demonstrated aptitude for strategic, analytical and critical thinking
Demonstrated leadership, with ability to coach, influence and build relationships through motivation, inspiration and setting a vision of success
