This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of the ALCU, the Care Team Assistant (CTA) works under the direction and supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and/or Registered Nurse (RN), to perform direct and indirect resident care tasks and support functions. Those assigned tasks and functions support the role of the professional staff and the efficient operation of the unit, and are delivered in a safe manner. Assigned roles and responsibilities will be within the care delivery model and based on the needs of the patient population, the health care system, and the RNs and LPN’s with whom the CTA works. Duties include personal care of patients, patient mobility and assisting the team in patient care provision.

The duties of the Care Team Assistant will be carried out in accordance with the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health Authority.

Qualifications

Graduate of an approved Continuing Care Assistant program with certification as a Continuing Care Assistant in Nova Scotia

Current First Aid/CPR certification

Demonstrated ability to take direction and accept accountability for actions taken

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

Demonstrated commitment to excellent patient care

Ability to organize and prioritize patient care

Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact positively with patients/residents, families and other health care providers/staff while demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and warmth

Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work

Long assignment, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly

Beginning as soon as possible until September 30th, 2022

Salary Information

$18.6678 – $20.1919 hourly
