The research assistant (RA) will complete a review of government reports and academic literature related to Canadian government legislation on international development spending. The RA will complete a report analyzing the literature in relation to Canadian extractive industry activity in Central America. This work is intended to support a manuscript in progress which analyzes Canadian public and private involvement in extractive activities in Central America.
Position Requirements
An ideal candidate for this RA position:
- Must be an advanced graduate student (PhD candidate preferred) at the University of Regina or Johnson Shoyama Graduate School.
- Must be fluent in both Spanish and English
- Must have very strong research and analytic skills directly relevant to the job description as well as advanced skills in writing and other communication
- Must have a proven ability to work independently
- Must have a strong familiarity with extractive industries and environmental conflict in the Latin American context
- Graduate courses in political economy and/or public policy are an asset
- A background in social science research methods is an asset

Approximately 10-15 hours per week, to a maximum of 60 hours in total.
