Building Foundations

Inspiring Innovation

Exceeding Expectations

Without a firm foundation, nothing lasts.

From the roads they drive on, to the airports they fly into, Yukon’s Department of Highways and Public Works keeps Yukoners safe and connected. But we’re more than just roads and airports – the work we do impacts each and every Yukoner. Whether it’s through the jobs we procure, the buildings we maintain, the communication networks we secure – our work builds the foundation that keeps the entire territory connected and running smoothly.

Our people are your people.

We are a high-performing team of self-proclaimed policy wonks that thrive in a fast-paced environment. We work closely together to support our Minister in the Legislative Assembly, develop policy and change or rewrite legislation. In this role, you’ll manage large complex policy initiatives and support the team in providing “fearless policy advice and faithful implementation.” You must be able to balance big picture, strategic thinking while being detail oriented and client focused.

We are looking for someone who can provide excellent client service, work collaboratively, and be a leader in the workplace. This position reports to the Policy Manager and will give you:

  • A good understanding of the policy making process from development to implementation.
  • Opportunities to lead and manage policy development projects through the approval process.
  • Experience in leading or participating in inter-departmental committees in areas of interest to the department, which also provides various networking opportunities.
  • Exposure to the day-to-day workings of Yukon government while supporting the Minister during legislative sessions. This will be done through preparation of materials such as briefing notes, branch overviews and Ministerial speeches.

Our policy analysts are strategic individuals with critical thinking skills who can analyze a broad variety of policy projects and make well-thought-out recommendations. The selected candidate will provide recommendations on complex issues, draft decision-making documents and develop policy in a collaborative setting.
