We are looking for a Director, Operations to support the Design and Fabrication Services branch. The Director, Operations would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
Working closely with the Branch Director General, the Director, Operations is responsible for managing the Branch’s operations, including the processes for the implementation of strategic, policy and business plans to enable the branch to meet its objectives in the provision of design and fabrication services to the various research centres of the NRC. The position provides oversight of support programs including interface with corporate common services and the Health, Safety and Environment Branch, and ensures the alignment, operational efficiency and integration of services.

Education
Degree in science, engineering or business. Preference may be given to candidates with a combination of technical and business education.
Project Management Certification would be considered an asset
Training in Occupational Health and Safety would be considered an asset.

Experience
Experience in providing strategic and tactical leadership in the management of operational issues in a complex environment (i.e. scientific research), developing and implementing operational/strategic/business plans, policies, procedures, best practices or programs and in identifying areas of improvement and innovation.
Experience in providing strategic and operational analysis, advice and recommendations to senior management on complex organizational initiatives/issues to enable decision making (such as strategic planning, finance, human resources, specialized facilities management, health and safety and project management) and then execute those decisions.
Significant and recent experience managing human resources including direct supervision of staff, assignment of work and managing employee performance.
Experience establishing and maintaining productive client relations, strategic partnerships or networks with internal and external stakeholders.

Salary Range
From $116,100 to $139,300 per annum.
