Our Public Safety and Community Department is looking for looking for hard working diligent individuals to join the team as Bylaw Patrollers on an auxiliary basis. This is An incumbent patrols municipal parks and parks trail systems, streets and lanes on assigned routes to enforce municipal bylaws; parking regulations, vehicle restrictions and commercial vehicle licensing bylaws, and related items; answers enquiries regarding park use, parking regulations, investigates public complaints regarding municipal park bylaws and illegally parked vehicles. Issues parking tickets and warning notices; arranges for the removal of vehicles; obtains registered owner information; notifies owners and prepares further charges as required. Assists as required in the enforcement of vehicle related portions of the Noise Prevention Bylaw; Assists as required on bike; presents evidence and/or gives testimony as required. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of grade 12 plus some related courses and experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. As a condition of employment, successful completion of the Municipal Bike Training Course will be required. Considerable knowledge of Municipal bylaws and regulations relating to motor vehicle parking, traffic movement and the licensing of commercial vehicles; municipal policies; geographic areas and street layouts of the Municipality. Ability to deal firmly but tactfully with the public and to exercise sound judgement and discretion; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various internal and external contacts; to answer enquiries relating to work performed prepare and present evidence for Adjudication Hearings as required; to prepare and maintain various reports and records and perform related clerical work and to operate a variety of equipment related to the work safely and effectively. A Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
