What you’ll doReporting directly to the Vice President & Provost, the Executive Assistant manages senior administrative functions, acts as a communications and operational centre point for the portfolio by working with a variety of internal and external constituents, and provides leadership with academic priorities and activities to enact and further the academic plan. Given the scope of the portfolio there are a range of activities, projects and initiatives that are ongoing, as well as time limited activities.

The portfolio is comprised of all academic units and Faculties at the university, that together contribute to Capilano University’s goals and priorities, particularly the academic plan. The portfolio’s team members come from a variety of backgrounds, each with exceptional skillsets that, working together, create a vibrant, energetic atmosphere within which to work and grow.

  • Supports all activities that fall under the jurisdiction of the Vice-President & Provost including strategic academic priorities and daily operational processes in the portfolio.
  • Provides the Vice President & Provost with the development, management and administrative support for portfolio, internal and external committees, and activities to further the academic plan and established annual priorities. This includes utilizing proactive project management skills to meet the office goals aligned with the academic and university plan.
  • Assists the Vice President & Provost and the Office with projects and/or initiatives that may require research, compiling data and relevant information, consulting with university employees, students and/or external partners.
  • Provides solid administrative and project management for projects and activities from inception to completion.
  • Prepares reports, briefings, and presentations on behalf of the Vice President or designate.
  • What you’ll bring
  • Completion of a relevant Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven years of directly related and progressively senior administrative experience, with experience in project management and financial management literacy being assets.
  • Knowledge of university structure, departments and their functions, administrative policies, procedures, rules and regulations gained through experience in a public post-secondary environment is an asset.
  • Commitment to and proven abilities with fostering diversity, advancing equity, and advancing a culture of inclusion.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365 applications.

Days and Hours of WorkOur standard work week is Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm. This position may include working evenings and weekends based on departmental needs.

Salary 

Range: $65,915 – $92,281, with a control point of $87,887 per annum

The salary range is the span between the minimum and the maximum base salary for a position. The control point of the range represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications, and experience for the position. Normally, employees will be hired, transferred, or promoted between the minimum and the control point of the salary range, taking internal equity into account. Salaries above the control point may only be considered for extenuating circumstances and must be approved by an external governing body.
