Hostel Manager

Reporting to the Acting Chief Executive Officer, the Hostel Manager lives on-site and is responsible for delivering the complete hostel experience in accordance with Hostelling International policies, procedures and mission.

HI Nordegg is scheduled to re-open June 2021 and will operate 4 days each week (Thursday – Sunday) Working hours are 40 hours per week, scheduled as per operational needs.

There is a private Manager’s residence on-site; you will receive accommodation as a taxable benefit. You will also have use of the company truck.

• HI Nordegg is a small hostel – the Hostel Manager spends a majority of time in direct service delivery
• Provide support in multiple areas including Front Desk, HouseKeeping, and Maintenance
• You check our guests in and out, offer them your expert advice and, like any good host, make sure their stay is an enjoyable one
• Ensure that the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the Hostel are kept up to standards
• Work collaboratively with the Operations, Marketing, Accounting, and Human Resources Teams at the HI Regional Office

We want YOU if you have

• An understanding of all aspects of customer service
• Experience with HouseKeeping and Maintenance is an asset to ensure the upkeep of this small hostel
• Ability to remain composed during high-pressure situations
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Previous hostelling experience and/or experience in tourism, service, or hospitality industry
• Comfortable working alone

Working with US will include

• A permanent full time position
• Available May 2021 upon selection of a qualified candidate, exact start date to be determined
• Full Training provided
• Starting salary range is $33,000 – $37,000 per year, commensurate upon experience
• An annual 6% vacation entitlement
