(Full-time exempt position – 3-year term)

The City of Parksville has an opening for a full-time (3-year term) Manager of Special Projects. The City has a number of high-profile capital projects planned, including an outdoor music stage, recreational amenities, multi- purpose trails and innovative collaborative governance projects.
 
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager delivers a broad range of special projects to achieve Council’s goals and strategic vision. The Manager is responsible for facilitating cross- organizational corporate special projects including managing major capital projects, offering information and advice on corporate work planning and issues related to corporate efficiency and effectiveness.
 
We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starting individual, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects. This position will appeal to a professional who understands the complexities of local government and appreciates working in a collaborative, fast paced, team environment and is an excellent communicator.
 
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business, Planning/Geography, Science, Political Science, or a related field (Masters preferred). Professional designation in planning, project management, engineering, environmental planning or a related science discipline would be an asset.
 
The position requires a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant professional experience (public sector policy development as well as objective setting and performance measurement) in a local government setting
including five (5) years’ experience in a management role. Experience engaging First Nations, liaising with stakeholders and conducting public consultation will be of great value to the successful candidate. Knowledge of permitting processes for senior governments would be an asset.
 
The City offers a competitive salary range ($98,000 – $113,000 – depending on relevant experience and credentials) and comprehensive benefits package, including an earned day off program upon completion of probation. To view a complete job description, visit www.parksville.ca.
