Job Summary
Instructs students individually and in groups, using multiple teaching methods. Interacts with students to facilitate cognitive and social-emotional learning, including pre-academic skills in literacy and math, self-regulation and positive interactions with peers and adults. Observes, records and administers informal and formal assessments to detect progress or gaps in children’s healthy growth and development.
What you will do
- Creates safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environments for students. Designs, prepares and continuously adapts, the physical environment of the classroom, including organizational layout (i.e. centers) and materials to meet the interests, strengths and needs of the students.
- Plans daily lessons to engage students in multiple modes of active, hands-on learning, including whole-group, small-group, pairing and individual activities. Adapts teaching methods to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
- Establishes meaningful relationships with students, and models positive social interactions.
- Creates strong community of learners by establishing and reinforcing rules for behavior and procedures. Engages students in caring for the physical classroom, themselves and each other.
- Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and activities with students, families, colleagues and administrators.
- Implements developmentally-appropriate early childhood assessments that measure progress towards academic standards and identify gaps in learning. Uses assessment data to refine curriculum and adjust instructional practices.
- Participates in collaborative curriculum development and professional learning activities with colleagues, coaches, administrators, and researchers.
- Collaborates with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to promote students’ academic and social-emotional learning and to resolve students’ behavioral and academic challenges.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree In education, early elementary or other related field of study Required
Experience Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Teaching Certification/License Current Tennessee Teaching certificate, or be in an eligible alternative licensure program Required
- Certified in Early Childhood Education Required
Equivalency
Starting At: $52,048.58
Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
