The Mechanical group is a dynamic team in which engineering, design, and leadership skills are combined to effectively support our clients. In addition to a solid education focusing on engineering, a strong set of personal competencies is a prerequisite for success. Being a team player and having an ability to interact effectively with client organizations, others disciplines, vendors, and contractors in our taskforce is essential.
The purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and perform the work listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position serves as an Area Lead on assigned projects or performs moderately complex engineering assignments, evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques to a medium set of difficult assignments.
• Apply Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work
• Adhere to industry codes and standards as well as company and department practices and procedures. Acknowledge building codes, ASHRAE, ACGIH Industrial Ventilation, SMACNA.
• Create concepts for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Dust control, prepare applicable system concept schematics or flow diagrams.
• Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems from the aspects of system concept, proper equipment selection, heat and hydraulic balance of the heating and cooling systems.
• Develop and review HVAC and Dust Control equipment and installation specifications, including design criteria
• Perform and check HVAC and Dust Control calculations for heating and cooling loads, air flows, ducting and pipe hydraulic/hydronics, and equipment capacities
• Develop HVAC and Dust Control layouts, and guide designers for graphic drafting
• Conduct material take-offs for HVAC and Dust Control systems including equipment, bulk ductwork and piping components, ductwork and accessories
• Prepare package quotation request and purchase orders, conduct technical bid evaluations, and review vendor drawings
• Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting
• Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution
• Familiarize 3D model review tools to co-ordinate for space allocations, clash cleaning
• Knowledge of 2D (AutoCAD, Microstation) & 3D software tools
• Assign work to teams, monitor and manage the work
• Other duties as assigned
