Description
Job Purpose:
To assist the Richmond Shelter/Community & Family Services and provide families and individuals in need with community services.
Employment Terms:
- Summer Contract – 8 weeks (35 hours per week including some evenings and weekends)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities:
- Help with the community services programs (i.e. food distribution, hampers/meals, outreach/shelter relief)
- Assist in planning and coordinating Community and Family Services programs for the summer/fall
- Assist with fundraising efforts for the family and community services programs
- Help serving meals (breakfast/lunch) and cleaning at the shelter
- Provide administrative support at the Shelter/Community & Family Services
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Awareness and compliance with Salvation Army Policies and Procedures
- Must be able to complete a Police Security Clearance Certificate
- Ability to engage with people from multiple socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds
- Willing to work in a social services setting, assisting clients who may be homeless, have addiction/mental health issues
- Able to work cooperatively in a team setting with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Must have good computer skills
- Food Safe, Driver’s License and First Aid/CPR are an asset
