Our 40 acre campus setting affords rich opportunities for students and teachers to explore learning in a spectacular setting. The successful candidate will be interested in working with a community of committed learners. Reporting to the MYP/DP Principal, the successful candidate will ideally have the following qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities will include:
Teaching MYP and DP Visual Arts classes as assigned by the Principal.
Ensuring that the written curriculum is of the highest quality and meets all requirements of MYP and/or DP Visual Art
Nurturing meaningful relationships with students
Managing the visual arts budget and ensuring that ordering occurs in a timely manner
Delivering lessons that are differentiated to meet the needs of all students
Communicating consistently and professionally with students, faculty and parents
Creating learning engagements based on the IB MYP/DP philosophy of inquiry based learning
Contributing to the co-curricular life of the school
Participating in continuous professional learning
Skills and Qualifications:
3-5 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB school, with (minimum) a Bachelor’s Degree in the Visual Arts or related BA program and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education
All of the requirements and certifications to teach in BC or ability to obtain the necessary certification by the start date
An ability to connect with, and inspire students in visual arts and design
A deep understanding of, and passion for, art, along with technical expertise
An ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
An ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff members, students, parents, and outside community agencies and partners
A grounding in academic art theory and history in order to deliver the DP Arts curriculum
Assessment experience with the IB Diploma Visual Arts program would be an asset
Excellent organizational and communication skills, passionate about teaching and mentoring students
Active work permit, permanent residency or Canadian citizenship.
