About us

The Emergency Health Program Management and Delivery Branch is responsible for ensuring there is strong operational alignment between all land and air service providers, healthcare service providers, municipal partners and First Nation communities.

The Emergency Health Services system in Ontario provides rapid response of pre-hospital and inter-facility care to 400+ municipalities and First Nations communities, operating 24/7/365 to address the needs of the sickest patients. Ontario’s EHS system serves as a key access point to the broader health care system. Our branch is responsible for the service-delivery of emergency communications services which receives approximately 2 million calls for service per year.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As the Senior Field Manager you will:

  • Provide leadership and advice to external and internal health care stakeholders
  • Coordinate and evaluating regional operations involving municipal and First Nations land ambulance systems
  • Manage staff and operations of Central Ambulance Communication Centres and Communication Services
  • Assist in the assessment, administration and control of a multi-million dollar budget of transfer payment agencies
  • Direct operating expenses for Emergency Health Services related agencies in the region

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

  • Applicants must demonstrate concrete examples of the following competencies within their cover letter and resume to be given further consideration in the assessment process.

Leadership and Management Skills:

  • You are a decisive leader with the ability to foster an inclusive and engaging work environment with employees and stakeholders.
  • You have experience managing a large team of professional staff delivering results in a high pressure environment.
  • You have experience with human resources practices, including labour relations and the grievance process.
  • You are an adaptive leader with the ability to build on change initiatives and champion change within the organization.
  • You have demonstrated skills in managing financial budgets.

Communication Skills and Stakeholder Relations:

  • You have experience building and maintaining relationships across the organization as well as external partners to gather input, build consensus and deliver on priorities.
  • You have good judgement and political acuity to deal with highly visible, complex and politically sensitive issues in a change environment.
  • You have strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • You have written communication skills to preparing Cabinet submissions, briefing notes, and a variety of correspondence for senior management.

Change Management and Analytical Skills:

  • You have expertise in managing multiple complex projects with a proven track record of successful completion.
  • You have knowledge of change management theories and practices to lead initiatives, implement operational, policy and process changes to improve service delivery.

Technical Skills:

  • You have knowledge and understanding of policy and program planning, analysis including development techniques and methods, key performance indicators.
  • You have the ability to interpret and apply ministry policy, legislation, and branch procedures for internal and external health care providers.
