The Opportunity

The Community Care Branch is seeking a creative, innovative and highly-motivated team player with exceptional leadership skills for the permanent full-time position of Director of Continuing Care and Rehabilitation based in Regina. This position will inspire, coach and support a team in the oversight of provincial programs, policies and legislation pertaining to long-term care, home care, palliative care, therapies, seniors’ issues and disabilities.

Under the leadership of the Executive Director, this position:

Leverages relationships across ministries, the health system and social services sector and uses research and information to provide advice and recommendations to senior officials on health and social sector priorities and innovations to address current and future challenges;

In alignment with Government planning and budget processes, researches, develops, implements and evaluates programs, policies and initiatives including legislative and regulatory changes;

Leads, coaches and inspires direct reports to a shared vision and creates cross-functional teams;

Interprets and applies legislation and regulations and provides advice to internal and external partners on its application;

Creates a culture of shared responsibility and mutual accountability with team members as well as internal and external partners; and

Engages staff in other ministries and external partners in planning and advancing inter-sectoral priorities.

The Ideal Candidate

As our ideal candidate, you will be a results-oriented individual with strong verbal and written communications skills. You will demonstrate:

A graduate (Masters) degree in public administration, health administration, health sciences, or social sciences as well as broad knowledge of community–based human services such as long-term care, home care and rehabilitation therapies to understand how these services intersect with and impact other human services.

Experience in public sector planning and decision-making, policy development, program evaluation, project management and program management to effectively and efficiently develop and advance priorities.

Experience in interpreting and applying legislation, developing and growing relationships, and negotiating partnerships and agreements with a diverse range of partners.

Integrity, openness, and inclusiveness by treating team members with respect, trust, dignity and empathy.
