Description
This position works for the food bank. You must be able to provide support to the Food Bank.
HOURS: 35 hours per week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure all pickup and deliveries are being done in a safe manner and recorded.
- Work with staff and volunteers.
- Organize the warehouse; ensure rotation, and food being moved to the packing room and lobby in a timely manner.
- Ensure bins, floor, cooler, and freezer, are clean daily and take out the garbage.
- Ensure that aisles, exits, and receiving area clear.
- Ensure safe handling and use dollies and carts when moving product, maintain social distancing, no eating, etc.
- Schedule agency and farmer pick-ups.
- Ensure the freezer and coolers are organized appropriately so the product is accessible and rotated and the temperatures are recorded. Report any deficiencies to the Manager.
- Ensure the product is available to hamper packers.
- Schedule the deliveries.
- Ensure cleaning and housekeeping standards are met.
- Ensure safe work practices when using all equipment.
- Ensure products (e.g. bread, water) are available and stocked for clients daily.
- Ensure all programs such as; farmers market, After the Bell, Backpack operates smoothly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:
- Class 5 Driver License (Drivers Abstract Required).
- Grade 12 Preferred.
Experience:
- 2 years or more minimum warehouse experience an asset
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Good organizing skills.
- Be bondable
- Be familiar with, and in agreement with, Salvation Army Mission Statements.
- Be familiar with local Salvation Army ministries
- The individual in this position will be dealing with the public on a daily basis. As such, the individual will be required to demonstrate a professional attitude commensurate with positive customer service.
- The individual will also be required to lift and move heavy objects
- Flexible and able to work with many groups of people
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work without constant supervision.
- A neat and clean appearance will be expected of the individual.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
The job requires a moderate amount of sitting, walking, and keyboarding. You would occasionally be required to stand, bend, and lift up to 10 pounds.
