KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the facilitation of the Financial Management Program in accordance with local and territorial policies and procedures
- All funds to be administered to prevent homelessness and to provide for the clients’
basic needs - Adhere to a plan for distribution of funds that has been tailored to the needs of each
client - Responsible for detailed and accurate record management
- Responsible for maintaining individual financial records for each client
- Ensure completion of client Income Statements as required by Ontario Works/Ontario
Disability Support Program - Prepare or arrange for preparation of client Income tax returns
- Complete all forms required by The Salvation Army, Ontario Works and Ontario
Disability Support Program - Submit monthly invoices to the City and FourCast with copies to the Supervisor
- Retain financial records in accordance with the Territorial policy
- Ensure filing of client records is up to date
- Responsible for networking on behalf of clients
- Liaise with government/other agency staff regarding client benefits
- Network with other social agencies, landlords, etc. as necessary in the provision of
client related services - Develop the greatest level of client financial independence as possible
- Ensure all program policies and procedures are followed, forward any recommended
changes to Supervisor - Provide back-up support for breakfast program
- Provide back-up support for Christmas programs
- Responsible for positive and effective client service ensuring that Christian compassion for clients is provided and that spiritual assistance is provided (or arranged) when requested by clients
- Represent The Salvation Army in a professional manner
- Assist in the preparation of the Annual review
- Attend regular monthly staff meetings and provide report on Financial Management
Program - Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- Minimum education level: The successful job applicant will have completed a minimum of two (2) years post-secondary level education
Experience:
- Prior Financial experience preferred
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Excellent English oral and written skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Must be proficient in detailed documentation work
- Ability to deal with the public, government and other social agencies
- Good attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills
- Self-motivated and disciplined
- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality
- Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring, as well as updated annually
HOURS: 32 hours per week
