The Provincial Library and Literacy Office (PLLO), Ministry of Education, is seeking a highly-motivated, collaborative and self-directed individual to permanently join our team to in the position of Literacy Program Manager.
We offer a challenging and supportive work environment with the opportunity to provide leadership and expertise in the strategic planning, development and evaluation of literacy policy, programs and services to advance positive literacy outcomes for children and families.
Reporting to the Director, Library Accountability and Administration, you will manage family and summer literacy programming in the province to support innovation, service delivery methods and program/service practices centered on the integration of literacy within families, communities and the broader early learning, education and library systems in Saskatchewan. You will facilitate partnerships and collaboration with other ministries, literacy partners, agencies, and practitioners to develop, implement and evaluate effective programs, services, strategies and policies that enhance literacy.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of social and education policy development, including trends and issues of child and family literacy development. You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills and proven experience working with community-based organizations/stakeholders, contract management, and program design and evaluation. By applying your research, analytical and evaluation skills, you will prepare policy briefs, proposals, decision items, Cabinet submissions and other documents as needed.
Typically, this knowledge is gained through a Master’s Degree in a human services or related field as well as experience with social and education policy development. Other candidates may be considered based on their education and experience. Bilingual, English and French, will be considered an asset.
This position requires some travel within the province (10% of time).
