The Ministry of Environment is seeking a highly-motivated, innovative, strategic professional for the position of Manager, Business Solutions Unit. This unit focuses its attention on the development of management strategies that enable clients to meet their unique business needs and objectives. As a member of the Business Support Services Branch management team, you will lead a small team of business analysts in the ongoing development, implementation and evaluation of the ministry’s business and system processes.

You will:
manage the development and delivery of online digital client services and business technologies in alignment with enterprise standards and strategic priorities;

manage business needs and tactical supports for those priorities including: business case development, business analysis, requirements gathering, business process mapping and improvements, system testing and test plan development and project coordination;

prepare and manage budgets, resource requirements for business and technology initiatives to support the implementation of ministry solutions;

provide leadership and expertise to governance bodies for the ministry’s operational and strategic information management and technology priorities and challenges; and

support organizational change management and training strategies to ensure ministry staff and clients accept changes to business processes and technologies successfully.

a strong understanding of public policy, business transformation and data governance;

extensive analytical and conceptual problem solving skills, combined with knowledge of enterprise project management and organizational change management principles and methodologies;

extensive knowledge and experience in business analysis fundamentals, business planning and business process improvement and re-engineering;

expertise and leadership in solution testing and plans for technical changes, system enhancements and system upgrades;

demonstrated ability to lead a group of professionals towards a common goal, applying effective negotiation and conflict management skills;

financial and human resources management experience to manage diverse teams who both directly or functionally report to the position;

demonstrated ability to interpret, understand and translate environmental and scientific subject matters into verbal and written business language, business cases and business requirements; and

extensive leadership experience to build and foster relationship with ministry staff, other government ministries, external stakeholders and service providers.

In-depth knowledge of provincial government structures, decision-making processes and priorities is also a definite asset for this position.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required in this position would be obtained through the completion of a post-secondary degree in Business Administration or related discipline, or an equivalency of experience and training demonstrated by a history of accomplishment in the information systems industry.
