Busy and multi function manager position leads a team of coordinators providing First Link services, support, education for individuals and families affected by dementia.

There are approximately 70,000 British Columbians living with dementia, and this number is growing. For every person living with dementia, there are many more people affected, including family, friends, co-workers and other members of their communities. Our vision is of a world without Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and that world begins with a more dementia-friendly society, where people affected by dementia are acknowledged, supported and included. About the position

Reporting to the Director, Operations, the Manager, Regional Services works to support the overarching strategic direction, services and programming of the Alzheimer Society within their assigned region. They are responsible to develop, lead and manage regional field staff to assist in the fulfilment of the Society’s mission. Through a variety of community outlets and stakeholder engagement, this role supports the ongoing development of a dementia friendly and supportive communities. This role is responsible for the geographical area of Vancouver, Richmond and the North Shore.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Works closely with the Senior Manager, Provincial Programs & Services and the other Regional Managers to ensure a consistent, and cohesive approach to field services across the province, which includes the delivery of programs and services for people affected by dementia.
  • Manages a team of support staff and oversees the recruitment, orientation, and supervision of staff within the assigned region.
  • Manages the effective planning and implementation of programming, outreach and community development within the region to align with organizational strategic goals.
  • Oversees all operations within the assigned region including office operations, budgets and invoicing.
  • Participates in the development of the Programs & Services strategic plan and annual goals.
  • Acts as the Society lead within their region and is responsible for managing relationships with clients, volunteers and other community stakeholders.
  • Works closely with the Society’s Provincial Volunteer Coordinator to ensure regional staff are supported to effectively work with and supervise volunteers in the community.
  • Actively participates in a variety of internal and external groups, to build networking opportunities, build collaborative relationships and ensure regions are mission aligned. Including but not limited to the internal Management Team, working groups and committees with community stakeholders.

Experience/Skills/Education

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong experience with service delivery at the community level.
  • In-depth understanding of dementia and related issues.
  • Experience in volunteer management/oversight.
  • Direct supervisory experience including staff development and team management.
  • Preference given to those with an education in adult programming, gerontology or Social Work exposure.
  • Some evening and weekend work is required. Flexibility with regards to scheduling is expected.
  • Must be able to drive and have reliable transportation.
