        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Supervisor ensures the efficient and effective reclamation, processing, storage and distribution of goods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains control of inventory by ensuring store donations are retrieved, sorted, and priced appropriately; protects store from inventory shrinkage by monitoring loss prevention program and close visual monitoring.
  • Ensures appropriate inventory levels based on spot checks of the store and reviewing weekly sales records.
  • Takes responsibility for staff safety by ensuring overall compliance with all safety procedures and by monitoring Health & Safety policies and procedures and provides feedback to the Store Manager.
  • Oversees and/or participates in facility management including cleaning, maintenance, repairs in/outside and grounds maintenance.
  • Ensures in-store safety for staff, customers and volunteers (e.g. snow removal, clear fire exists, no obstacles inside/outside store, spillage, store cleanliness dealing with volatile situations); ensure property is secures at all times.
  • Assists Store Manager in directing all operations of the Thrift store to meet sales targets, and control expenses while maintaining customer service standards.
  • Works with volunteers on a daily basis and will participate in their training.
  • May participate in the hiring, orientation, training, and recognizing of employees and volunteers in concert with Divisional and Territorial standards.
  • Ensure work stations for volunteers are clear and ready before they arrive.
  • Receives, sorts, stores and prices donations as per directions and standards.
  • Process donated items by unloading, sorting, packing, storing, bailing and reloading the donations.
  • Lifts and relocates bags and boxes to determined areas as required. Assists with heavy lifting as required.
  • Climbs ladders and stores seasonal product in overhead storage bins.
  • Separates recycling and garbage, and processes both according to the direction given, including into truck for removal..
  • Operates the forklift to move goods as necessary after sufficient training.
  • Shares janitorial duties in common spaces such as washroom and kitchen.
  • May lock up sales cash and receipts at the end of each shift.
  • Ensures nightly sales are deposited to the appropriate financial institution.
  • Accurate opening and closing of store procedures when required, including POS terminals and till.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:

Experience:

  • At least one year of prior related experience, including warehouse and supervisory experience

The incumbent is responsible as a group/work leader. He/She is responsible for providing direction and checking results, but generally works along with those supervised.  The incumbent may provide advice on hiring, firing decisions but not other supervisory decisions.
