Job Description
The Youth Education Programs Coordinator will be part of a team that oversees the Welcome to My Life, That’s Just Me, and Boys 4 Real, and Being Me programs, which support grade 7 participants as they transition from elementary to high school. The role includes program development and implementation. The coordinator will work with the following stakeholders: school administrators, community organizations, funders, volunteers, and grade 7 students.
Currently we have combined our programs into one Guide to High School program which runs online. Future program delivery will take place in-person in schools in Vancouver and Surrey.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the delivery of programs within schools, including program promotion and participant recruitment
- Facilitate the Youth Education Programs
- Volunteer management including recruitment, screening, database management, coaching and appreciation
- Collaborate on the development of curriculum and collateral materials
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of the volunteer training program
- Support the evaluation of the youth programs including conducting debrief sessions and focus groups, as well as collecting, collating and analyzing post-program surveys
- Providing general office administrative support including preparation of program materials for training and workshops, database management, participant registration and application processing
- Travel throughout Surrey and Vancouver is required
Qualifications:
- University degree in social work, youth work, psychology, education, or related field
- Knowledge of and experience with the YWCA’s Youth Education Programs is an asset
- Knowledge of the theory, principles and practices in the areas of mentoring, education and youth development
- Bachelor of Education or curriculum development an asset
- Experience working with and facilitating groups of youth and volunteers
- Mentorship and/or youth work experience an asset
- Experience in community program settings
- Strong communication skills including tact and diplomacy
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Organized, self-driven, ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities and strong leadership skills
- Strong office and administration skills including proficiency in Microsoft office: Word, Excel and Outlook
- Valid BC driver’s license and clean driving record required; having access to a vehicle is an asset, but not required
- Able to work a flexible schedule when needed
- The successful candidate will be required to do a criminal record check
