Continuing Education/Workforce Training Coordinator (21:050)

Term of App’t: Monday – Friday, 7 hours per day

Start date: Immediately

Reporting to: Dean of Workforce Training / Continuing Education

Salary:
$34.18 – $42.60/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional $0.50/hour in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.

Description:
The Workforce Training Coordinator, reporting to the Dean of Workforce Training & Continuing Education, in cooperation with other college departments, will be responsible for creating, developing and managing, long and short term partnerships (as well as maintaining those already established) with other agencies and community/industry groups to develop and implement programming for the Dawson Creek and surrounding area. The coordinator will, through various means that include but are not limited to, conduct consultative learning/training needs assessments to help clients and community determine their education needs.

As directed by the Dean, the incumbent will be responsible to create and manage a strategic plan to design, develop, organize, promote, schedule, implement and evaluate community and industry education and training requirements in a timely and relevant way. This position also includes working directly with qualified instructors to ensure high-quality instruction and testing standards are met.

The coordinator will develop and implement strategies to increase sales and generate revenue that represents the full range of NLC service capabilities, and will exhibit a strong commitment to customer service, both internal and external, this includes but is not limited to quality of service measurement and customer relationship management to reach department and college goals. The coordinator will be responsible for working with other college departments on all campuses, as well as with other coordinators and staff on all campuses in launching both local and regional initiatives, and participate in department and college wide strategic planning to meet college objectives.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a diploma/degree in Business, Adult Education, Marketing or a related discipline, with five or more years’ sales experience being preferred. Administrative or supervision experience would definitely be an asset. Must have a sound knowledge of contemporary adult education principles, and with five or more years of related business development and having demonstrated the ability to improve results through creating and developing learning and/or business solutions; with the proven ability to work with key stakeholders to meet targets. Entrepreneurial self-starter attributes; strong communication, networking and interpersonal skills; demonstrated proposal and/or business plan writing skills; budgeting and financial skills; strong analytical and negotiation skills; a proven track record of achieving financial targets; and the ability to work independently and as a team member. You will have the ability to exercise a high level of initiative and responsibility, and will have past success in developing and implementing new strategies, policies and procedures. Proven ability to pay close attention to details in all paperwork and reports, to support successful outcomes. Must be able to demonstrate excellent people management skills. A valid BC Driver’s license is required.
