About Us
Alberta Education provides leadership, direction and oversight in the development and delivery of an innovative, collaborative, student-centered education system. We support students, parents, teachers and administrators from Early Childhood Services (ECS) through Grade 12.
Field Services provides support to the Minister, the ministry, key educational stakeholders, provincial school authorities and First Nations school authorities for Kindergarten to Grade 12. The sector has a strategic focus and cohesive approach to implementation of education-related legislation, regulations, policies, programs and initiatives, while understanding local context and priorities among school authorities. Field Services promotes continuous improvement and system effectiveness with school authorities, monitors for compliance on accountability/assurance requirements, and facilitates efforts in areas for improvement. Field Services Manager – South Region
As the Field Services Manager South, you will lead a team in supporting the Ministry and several Kindergarten to Grade 12 school authorities, including private schools, across a broad geographic area in the southern part of our province. Within the context of legislation, regulations and policies, you will promote innovation and system effectiveness, monitor and provide direction to school authorities including private schools for compliance on planning, reporting and accountability requirements. You will mentor, motivate, develop and set business goals and priorities for a team comprised of professional and administrative staff. You will provide leadership, guidance and direction to superintendents and be accountable for ensuring school authority and private school compliance with legislation, regulation, policy and guidelines. Your leadership in this position will allow the branch to: meet operational requirements; ensure school authorities and private schools meet legislative, regulatory and policy requirements; provide proactive problem solving and mitigate risk. Candidates willing to serve from our Calgary Office are preferred.
Field Services Manager – First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education:
As the Field Services Manager First Nations, Métis and Inuit, you will work closely with provincial and First Nation Education Authorities, the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education Directorate, and other ministry/government partners to support First Nations, Métis, and Inuit student success. You will promote innovation and system effectiveness to ensure that all Alberta students are knowledgeable, understanding and respectful of First Nation, Métis and Inuit peoples – their cultures, languages, histories, treaties, and the legacy of residential schools. In addition, you will work with key educational stakeholders to provide expert knowledge and facilitation of change and continuous improvement to ensure that Alberta Education is well informed on the strengths and challenges in both provincial and First Nations education systems across the province. Position located in Edmonton.

As the ideal candidate, you are passionate about students, and have demonstrated success in strategic planning and taking ideas from design through to implementation. You are a collaborator, and make timely evidence-based decisions to ensure major project targets and goals are achieved. Exceptional communication and organization skills are key. The ability to use interpersonal skills to build positive relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders is paramount.
Qualifications (Required)
A Degree in Education and a minimum of four years progressively responsible leadership experience at the school, authority and/or provincial level (e.g. experience leading curriculum initiatives, administrative leadership at the school/division level etc.)
An Alberta Permanent Professional Teaching Certificate
Field Services Manager, First Nations, Métis and Inuit role requirement:
Experience and involvement with First Nations, Métis and Inuit learning from Early Childhood Services through Grade 12

Travel throughout the province is required (outside pandemic status, 20-30% of work time)

Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.

Salary
$3,062.51 to $4,121.25 bi-weekly ($79,931 to $107,564 annually)

These positions work Monday to Friday at 36.25 hours per week, and are full-time, permanent
Relocation expenses will not be provided
Final candidates for these positions will undergo an academic check, a Criminal Records Check and must provide proof of their Alberta Teaching Certificate
