In this role you will:
Provide leadership, direction, and management of provincial EM operations, based on the Hazard Incident Risk Assessments and gap analysis
Ensure the province’s readiness to respond to level 1 – 3 type disasters, including systems, stock readiness and workforce and contribute to level 4 – 5.
Support Volunteer Resources and Field Staff to builds volunteer capacity for PDATs and ERTs up to and including provincial FOTs
In response acts as Operations lead for the PDCT and may act as back up PDCT lead
Support the strategy for CRC to be recognized as the partner of choice in the province of Manitoba through building strong and effective working relationships with all levels of government, key provincial/local stakeholders.
May act as a designated public spokesperson for disaster management within the province.
Mentor and guide staff while modeling strong leadership skills.
Supports the annual planning and budgeting process for the Disaster Management program in MB
Regularly update a risk assessment for Society EM operations within the province.
Contribute to a healthy and safe working environment.
We’re looking for:
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and 6-10 years of job-related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of different cultures
Expert knowledge in domestic and or International disaster readiness and response
Strong leadership skills to execute a plan for strengthening the Red Cross in Manitoba
Ability to be self directed and experience working in a matrix environment
Strong program planning and evaluation skills
Advanced organizational skills
Proven ability to build, manage and supervise effective teams
Proven experience working with external stakeholders
Working Conditions
The majority of the work is performed in an office environment
Travel throughout the province is occasionally required
Ability to work non-traditional hours, be on-call and respond to emergency/disaster related requests.
Field assignments can involve working in environments that are unstable and with unpredictable access to basic services. Potential for basic or hardship living conditions/accommodations
Financial support for relocation is negotiable
